3D Mounted Model Analysis
Mounted model analysis uses 3D models of your teeth mounted on a special device to simulate your jaw and the way it moves. Because our goal is not only to straighten your teeth, but to improve the function of your bite, this technology is key to in-depth analysis of the discrepancies in your bite and the position of your teeth. Mounted model analysis enables us to evaluate all of the contacts among the teeth and if they are in harmony with your jaw joints position. This level of detail is impossible to gather from a conventional hand-held model analysis, which is still widely used by other professionals in the industry. At Hillside View Orthodontics, mounted model analysis is used concurrently with other diagnostic methods to create the most specific treatment plan for your unique orthodontic needs.
Intraoral Scanner
At Hillside View Orthodontics, our patients benefit from the state-of-the-art iTero intraoral scanner to digitally capture the shape of your teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. In just minutes, with a hand-held wand that uses a radiation-free laser, our team can accurately capture a precise digital 3D impression of your mouth without the goopy mess! The 3D digital models allow us to work with our outside laboratories more efficiently as they can be instantly submitted online to order your custom-made appliances, which means less wait time for our patients.
Low-Radiation Digital Imaging
We use low-radiation digital imaging techniques to help visualize the various structures in order to diagnose with the highest accuracy while keeping radiation exposure to a minimum for our patients. Drs. Ikeda and Righellis are highly trained to review 2D and 3D digital radiographs and will recommend the images needed for your particular orthodontic needs.
Visual Treatment Objective
A visual treatment objective (VTO) is like a blueprint used in building a house or GPS system that helps you get to your destination in the shortest amount of time. It’s a technique used to forecast the jaw growth of each individual patient and the anticipated influences of orthodontic treatment, so we can plan precise, quantifiable movement of the teeth and jaws that will result in ideal facial balance. Although it’s time-consuming, we perform this for every patient so that we can visualize our treatment goal (have a clear understanding of our destination), and create a customized treatment plan with highest efficiency.
Hybrid Self-Ligating Braces
Self-ligating braces mean less friction between the wire and the brackets, resulting in greater freedom of movement compared to traditional braces. We use a unique combination of gentle active clips to guide the front teeth to their proper position and passive clips on the back teeth that allow gliding movement with less friction and pressure. Because of this, patients can enjoy a more comfortable experience and fewer appointments compared to traditional braces. At Hillside View Orthodontics, we offer ultra-low profile metal brackets with matte finish that make them more discreet and comfortable, as well as clear ceramic brackets for superior esthetics.
Indirect Bonding
Indirect bonding is a technique where we place braces on a 3D model of your teeth, and then fabricate a custom tray that transfers the braces to your mouth. These extra steps we take in our laboratory allow us to place brackets on your teeth with great precision, and in less time than the traditional technique of placing one bracket at a time, tooth by tooth. Because there is less error in bracket placement, this method allows us to increase treatment efficiency and shorten your treatment time.
Accelerated Treatment
Do you want your orthodontic treatment done faster? We offer an FDA-approved appliance called OrthoPulse to achieve accelerated orthodontic movement. OrthoPulse uses low levels of light energy (near infrared light) to stimulate bone cells surrounding the roots of your teeth to facilitate tooth movement. It is safe and can be used with braces or clear aligners like Invisalign to reduce treatment time when used daily. Our patients also report reduced discomfort from orthodontic tooth movement when using OrthoPulse. If you are interested, ask us if you are a candidate!
